Dr. Liping Fu (Principle Investigator)

Dr. Fu is a Professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Director of the Innovative Transportation System Solutions (iTSS) Lab at the University of Waterloo. Dr. Fu has a long track record of research contributions to the areas of intelligent transportation systems, public transit, road safety, and winter road maintenance. He has provided technical services to many transportation agencies, including Transport Canada, Ministry of Transportation Ontario, and several municipalities in Canada. Dr. Fu is the principal investigator of a number of winter snow and ice control related projects funded by NSERC, MTO, Landscape Ontario, several municipalities, and salt institute. He also oversees all aspects of Canadian Rail Research Consortium (CRRC), including coordinating with researchers from all university nodes of the Centre.

Dr. Luis Miranda-Moreno

Dr. Miranda-Moreno is an Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering at McGill University. Dr. Miranda’s specialty is in transportation engineering with a focus on transport safety issues, travel behavior analysis, and sustainable transport strategies. His research interests include the development of crash-risk analysis methods, the integration of emergency technologies for traffic monitoring, the impact of climate on transportation systems, the analysis of short and long-term changes in travel demand, the impact of transport on the environment, the evaluation of energy efficiency measures and non-motorized transportation. He has worked in many projects for various transportation agencies and major cities in North America such as the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP), Transport Canada, Mexican Ministry of Transportation, Quebec and Ontario Ministry of Transportation, City of Toronto, City of Montreal, City of New York, and Mexico

Dr. Peter Park

Dr. Park is an Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering at York University. His expertise is in transportation safety and security (highways and railways), intelligent transportation systems, transportation planning and advanced statistical analysis. Before joining York University, he was a member of the faculty of the Department of Civil and Geological Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan (2008 to 2015). In addition to his academic experience, he has many years experience in national and international consulting as a traffic safety analyst, transportation engineer and planner.

Dr. Tony Qiu

Dr. Qiu is an Associate Professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Director of Centre for Smart Transportation.at the University of Alberta.  His expertise includes intelligent transportation system, connected vehicles, and active traffic management. Dr. Qiu’s research aims to enhance our understanding of roadway traffic operation and control. He has collaborated with several organizations in the public and private sectors on projects related to intelligent transportation systems, wireless sensor networks for traffic data collection and analysis, Advanced Traffic Management Systems, Advanced Traveler Information Systems, and other new technologies and practices.
